Utah’s ski season is coming to an end, but the ski resorts continue to be great destinations for outdoor recreation year-round. The Alta and Snowbird ski resorts host several Utah mountain bike races and marathons during the summer for those with a competitive spirit. See if you have what it takes to participate in a mountain race this summer! After the race, you can celebrate your achievements with music, food, and drinks. Wasatch Trail Run Series, July 6th
The first mountain run of the season is the Wasatch Trail Run at Snowbird. This run will take you along dirt trails during peak wildflower season. Registration begins at 5 pm, and the race starts at 6:30 at Creekview. Depending on your skill level, two courses are available, ranging from three to nine miles. Don’t forget to stick around for giveaways and awards post-race!
Intermountain Cup, July 16th
The Intermountain Cup is a premier MTB race throughout Utah that will come to Snowbird in July. According to age and skill level, bikers will be split up in two waves. The race starts at Gad Valley Gulch and includes 500 feet of climbing per lap. This Utah mountain bike race will be heart-pumping fun for the whole family!
Speedgoat Mountain Races, July 22nd-23rd
Speedgoat Mountain Races is one of the toughest 50ks in the country and an incredible feat for runners. The race ranges from 11k to 78km, depending on your running abilities. Expect rocky terrain, high elevation, and grueling verticals as you experience breathtaking views of the Wasatch Mountains. Please be aware that this race is quite challenging with almost 12,000 feet of climbing and is not for everyone. After the race, stick around for complimentary food and the award ceremony.
Cirque Series, August 6th & 20th
The Cirque Series is a famous Utah running race suitable for all ages and abilities. They will host races at Alta and Snowbird during August. First-time runners should register under the sports category, and advanced runners can choose the expert or pro options. Take in views of the mountains, wildflowers, and forests as you run the course. Celebrate your race with music, food, drinks, and vendor tents at the end of the day.
